This print from my original drawing represents the myth of Sigurðr or Siegfried.
This tale is well known today for medieval poems and Wagner’s opera “The Ring of the Nibelung” but was well documented in the Viking Age by various decorated stones that represent it in different ways.
I was inspired by these stones to adapt it into a hypothetical tattoo project in traditional and authentic Ringerike style, where the great dragon Fáfnir “frames” the protagonist, Siegfried, the dwarf Andvari and the Valkyrie of Knowledge Sigrdrífa.
