Daria wanted to dedicate this half sleeve to the god Loki, a very particular and ambiguous subject.
In drawing it I used the structure of the classic Viking era masks as a basis, at the time these objects had no correlation with the gods so I was inspired by some of the very few finds that are supposed to concern Loki.
Can you tell which ones I used? :)
The first reference I used is the "Loki Stone" or "Bound Devil) a stone about 1 meter high where a horned figure bound in chains is carved.
It is located in Kirkby Stephen Church, Cumbria.
The second reference I used is the "Snaptun stone", a Viking-era stone carved around 1000 AD. whose face with sewn lips seems to be a reference to the Viking god and to an episode concerning him told in the Edda.
Today it is exhibited at the Mesgard Museum in Denmark.
